Women’s drill hats are cut from heavy cotton twill or canvas, the cloth used for workwear. The weight holds a stiff brim and a defined crown. Lighter cottons crush in a bag and never quite recover.

Variation sits mostly in the brim width. A short brim stays close to the face. A wider one shades properly and asks more of the outfit around it. Finishes range from plain fabric to a small embroidered logo.
